Canada Post Corporation

In 1994, Canada Post Corporation (CPC) chose SNC-Lavalin O&M for a contact covering the provision of extensive real estate services to CPC’s network of buildings in Eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada). This assignment encompassed about 60% of CPC’s real estate portfolio. SNC-Lavalin O&M provided a wide range of services including facilities management, project management of real estate-related projects, and lease administration and transaction assistance.

SNC-Lavalin O&M’s work has involved the management of building operations and maintenance services in over 500 Canada Post leased and owned facilities in Eastern Ontario, Quebec, and the four Atlantic provinces. These facilities included Post-Master-managed depots, mail processing plants, offices, urban and rural outlets, letter-carrier depots, and other special purpose structures. The size of the CPC facilities range from under 10,000 square feet for retail outlets to over one million square feet for mail processing plants. The focus of our management activities was maintaining and increasing CPC’s asset value. Project activities included securing contract services for facilities maintenance, as well as managing those contracts. Also included were budgeting, awarding, and managing capital projects with the approval of CPC, in addition to monitoring/managing major equipment warranties. A key initiative was energy consumption monitoring to achieve energy savings in CPC’s managed facilities. Administration of leases and support to CPC’s real estate transactions, as well as the operation of a Customer Support Service Centre, were within the scope of our services.

SNC-Lavalin O&M and CPC’s awards have included the Certificate of Excellence in the Office Category from Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Toronto in April 2003.
