Trans-Canada Highway

The Trans-Canada Highway Project Co. Ltd. contracted with SNC-Lavalin O&M for the operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of a total of 275 kilometres of the four-lane Trans-Canada Highway in western New Brunswick.

SNC-Lavalin O&M’s responsibilities in maintaining and operating the Trans-Canada Highway infrastructure include continuous improvement of performance and delivering one of the safest, most efficient, and modern highways in the world. The four-lane highway is an important trade corridor, with significant economic and safety benefits that make New Brunswick a more attractive destination for business and visitors.

SNC-Lavalin O&M ensures all highway facilities and related components are maintained and operated safely, in a cost-effective manner, and in accordance with all contractual requirements of the project agreement. Under this contract, SNC-Lavalin O&M has had to ensure regulatory compliance under ISO 9001 and ISO 12001 certification, as well as being New Brunswick Construction Safety Association-certified Quality Safety Management Systems.

January 2008: 2007 New Brunswick Road Builders Association (NBRBA) Safety Award

August 2008: Excellence in Salt Storage Award from the Salt Institute, awarded to Meductic (District 1) and Saint Leonard (District 3)

November 2008: 2008 National Award for Innovation and Excellence – Silver Award, Infrastructure Category from the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships

January 2009: 2008 Global Road Achievement Award – Finance Category from the International Road Federation.

December 2009: 2009 Excellence in Salt Storage Award from the Salt Institute awarded to all three Districts 1, Meductic, Centerville, and Saint Leonard
